Europe 07

I know Jon wrote a lot about our trip, but I thought I would give my story. Paris was pretty awesome. We had a hard time getting on their time, so we woke up pretty early for the first few days. One day we went to the Eiffel Tower and watched the sunrise, which was cool. The Orsay museum was awesome. There were so many artists that left you in awe of their artwork. Artists like Van Gogh, Monet, Degas, and many more. It was really cool. One day we went to Normandy and went to the D-Day beaches as well as the American Cemetary. That was my favorite day of the whole trip. It was so cool to see all that. The beaches were in a little town called Beavais and the town was so cool. It had a beautiful church which was the original Notre Dame. It was quiet, and amazing. It just gave me great feelings. Overall France was pretty cool.

Italy was incredible. Our hostel in Rome was pretty sweet. It had a bar with cheap drinks so that was cool. On our first day we went down to the Colliseum, and when you first see it, it is so big. It was closed that day but when we went in Drew and I took a brick each out of the Colliseum and Ashley got made at us quoting "If everyone took out a rock there would be no more Colliseum." The sisteen chapel was awesome along with Vatican city, minus the giant Nativity scene in front that was drawing more attention to people than the the rest of Vatican City. We hadnt eaten breakfast that day and it was a late lunch. Before lunch Drew and I drank 3 glasses of wine. Since we had empty stomachs we werre both pretty gone. We were in a crowded restaurant and could not stop laughing. We met up with Dan, that night and traveled through Italy for the next few days. We went to Naples which was really dirty, but Pompei which is right out of Naples was awesome. We were able to see the bodies that were covered from the volcano. We also met up with Julia, and Wendy and went to the Catacombs, which were the underground Christian graveyards which were cool.

After Rome we went to Florence for two days. The gelato in Florence was great. We climbed up 450 stairs to the top of the Basilica and looked over the city of Florence. At night we would go to the river because the fog would come in and it looked beautiful. We went to Piza and Chinqueterra for a daytrip as well. Piza didnt have that much to see other than the Leaning Tower, which was cool to see. Chinqueterra was awesome. It was five little towns along the coast. We walked along the beach, and explored two of the towns. We went to a bar which had great bruschetta, and beer. That was one of the best days of the trip.

Next up was Venice which was really cool to see. You see all these pictures of the canals and when you see them in person it really is something. San Marco square was really cool. Ashley fed pigeons and they attacked her. It was pretty funny. We saw the church that was in the Indiana Jones movies which was cool. The museums were cool as well. Our hostel in Venice was really cool. It was more of a hotel, and it had a bar as well. One night Jon, Drew, and I all got pretty tipsy and ran with our shirts off down the street where our hostel was.

Athens, Greece was pretty cool after the second day. The first day we walked through the city which looked like inner city L.A. At night people walked down the streets chanting. It was kind of scary. The next day we went to the Acropolis and the Temple of Zues. We also saw the Olympic Stadium. At that point I really started to like Athens. We took a daytrip to Sounion which was one of the best days as well, It is where the Temple of Poseidon is located. It was right on the coast. We sat on the edge of the cliffs and walked down to the ocean to relax. It was great. We were informed by the lady at our hostel to go to Nafplio. So we traveled there for three days. It was also on the coast and was one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. We meant to walk up to this fortress which was 999 steps up. We got lost and ended up walking around the entire mountain which was maybe 5 or so miles. It was well worth getting lost. We walked along the coast and the water with the mountain in the background were incredible. We later went swimming in it. It was pretty nice and warm outside, but the water was so cold so we didnt stay in for too long.

By the last few days as amazing as the trip was we all wanted to come home. The group that went on the trip was great and we all got along for the most part. I am really happy that we were able to go. Overall the trip was so great. I will soon post some pictures of the unbeievably awesomely courageously metophysically cool times that we had.
